Jessica Freedman

Mediator, Family Law Lawyer.

Jessica Freedman

Jessica comes to Primeau Law as a Mediator and seasoned Family Law Lawyer. After earning her Honours Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from the University of Guelph, she went on to receive her Juris Doctorate from the University of Windsor and was called to the Bar in 2011.

Jessica remembers her time at Windsor Law fondly, particularly the supportive, collaborative, and social culture the school worked hard to promote. She maintains that she “took her network with her,”: a testament to both the school’s ability to foster a community of support and the importance of a social and professional community to her.

After graduating, Jessica articled in Guelph for a full-service law firm. It was during her articling experience that she chose to pursue a career in family law. She loves focusing on family law because of both the creative problem-solving aspect of the job and the diverse options this role provides. Jessica finds it fulfilling to assist her clients through their toughest moments and to be a source of strength and clarity for them during those emotionally charged times.

After completing her articling, Jessica continued to hone her skills in family law while at the full service firm in Guelph and was able to continue to act in a limited capacity on real estate and corporate matters, ensuring her skill set remained broad. In 2014, Jessica relocated to the City of Toronto to work, eventually landing at a boutique Family Law firm. Here, she had the opportunity to work with higher-profile cases in the area of family law and took two of her cases to trial, obtaining optimal outcomes for her clients.

Jessica is now excited to bring this breadth of experience to Deep River as the newest member of the Primeau Law team.  Jessica is Deep River born and raised, and she is thrilled to be able to bring her skills and experience home. She will be offering services to clients in a litigation or mediation capacity.  Jessica is eager to be able to tackle the barriers of access to justice by offering family law and Mediation services in a small town.

Jessica also has a passion for rural Ontario histories, baking, and music and currently sits on the board of the Donkey Sanctuary of Canada.

She is eager to bring an expansive skillset to the people of the Ottawa Valley, a third option for resolution by way of Mediation, and a sense of calm and class, offering warm professionalism to the practice and her clients.
